Ingelmunster
About this Place
Ingelmunster is a municipality in West Flanders with an important place in the history of the Van Honsebrouck brewing family. The family established its brewery here at the beginning of the twentieth century and later developed beers including Kasteel, named after Ingelmunster Castle. As the brewery expanded, its Ingelmunster site became too small. Production moved to the new Bierkasteel at Emelgem, part of neighbouring Izegem, in 2016. The Van Honsebrouck family continues to own Ingelmunster Castle, preserving a visible connection between the town and the brewery’s identity. The separate Izegem entry covers the brewery’s present home.
Visitor notes
Ingelmunster Castle can be seen from the market square but is not open to the public. The municipality also has walking and cycling routes through the surrounding countryside and alongside the Roeselare–Lys canal.
