Manufactured 2024 Curator’s Notes Brigand is a strong Belgian blond beer from Kasteel Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck. The name refers to the “brigands” who rebelled against French revolutionary rule during the Peasants’ War of 1798, a historical reference that remains central to the beer’s identity.
This version of the Brigand 1798 glassware presents the brand in a more restrained style than earlier examples. The simple logo is the only decoration on the bowl, allowing the shape and craftsmanship of the glass itself to provide much of the character.
The goblet follows the traditional Belgian approach for strong blond ales, with a generous bowl suited to aromatic beers. Its distinctive stem is the main design feature: flared at both ends, narrowing through the middle and finished with fine ribbing that gives the glass both visual interest and a pleasing texture in the hand.
Together with earlier Brigand glasses (BBG108) in the collection, this version shows how a long-established Belgian beer identity can evolve while retaining its historical associations.
