Manufactured 2022 Curator’s Notes I paid €1 for this Brussels Beer Project (BBP) glass with only the brewery’s distinctive logo to identify it. It appears to be a general BBP house glass rather than one designed for a specific beer.
The glass is a good example of one of BBP’s approaches to branding. Rather than carrying the name of one beer, the repeated logo makes the brewery itself the focus. This reflects a brewery built around experimentation and variety, with many different beers produced under one recognisable identity.
The tulip-shaped bowl and elegant stem place the glass closer to a tasting glass than a traditional Belgian goblet. The shape suits aromatic beers, particularly hop-forward styles, while remaining versatile enough for BBP’s constantly evolving range.
BBP was founded in 2013 as part of a new generation of Belgian breweries that approached beer through experimentation, collaboration and community. This simple but distinctive glass captures that modern Brussels brewing identity: less about a single historic recipe, and more about an ongoing project. It contrasts nicely with the BBP glass (BBG153) elsewhere in the Museum.
