About this Brewery
Place: Brussels
Brussels Beer Project (BBP) is a modern Brussels brewery founded in 2013 by Olivier de Brauwere and Sébastien Morvan. Unlike many Belgian breweries whose stories begin with abbeys, family dynasties or historic recipes, BBP arrived as part of a new generation of brewers seeking to challenge expectations about Belgian beer.
From the beginning, the brewery built its identity around experimentation, collaboration and community involvement. Early beers were developed through a process of co-creation, with drinkers invited to taste and vote on new recipes. Delta IPA became one of the brewery’s defining early beers, helping establish BBP as one of Brussels’ most recognisable craft breweries.
The brewery opened its first brewery and taproom in Dansaert in central Brussels, a neighbourhood already associated with the city’s creative renewal. It has since expanded its Brussels presence with further locations in Bailli and Port Sud in Anderlecht, where its larger production brewery is located.
Brussels Beer Project’s beers have always ranged widely, from modern IPAs and experimental creations to beers that explore Belgian brewing traditions. More recent projects have included deeper engagement with historic styles such as lambic and gueuze, reflecting a broader evolution in Belgian craft brewing: a generation that initially looked beyond tradition, then returned to it with fresh eyes.
Brussels Beer Project represents a different kind of Belgian brewing story. It is not a revival of an old brewery tradition, but part of a new chapter in which experimentation, collaboration and heritage increasingly exist alongside each other.

Curator's Note
I've visited their bar in Bailli - Tram 93: runs between Stade/Stadion (Laeken) and Legrand, passing through the city centre, Louise, Stéphanie and Bailli, BPP is literally opposite the Bailli tramstop. The bar is on several levels with an outside courtyard seating area. Inside has a post-industrial chic vibe. All their beers are available and they serve pizzas for when you get the munchies!
