About this Brewery
Brouwerij Haacht is an independent Belgian family brewery in Boortmeerbeek, Flemish Brabant. Brewing began there on 14 June 1898, when engineer Eugène De Ro made his first top-fermented beer in the former Haecht dairy. The business developed into Brouwerij en Melkerij van Haecht and has remained a significant independent brewer in a market increasingly dominated by international groups.
Its best-known beer is Primus, a classic Belgian pilsner, but Haacht also produces Tongerlo abbey beers, Super 8 speciality beers, Mystic fruit beers and Charles Quint. In 1998 it acquired the historic Eupener Bierbrauerei; brewing subsequently left Eupen, but Eupener Bier continues to be made to its traditional recipe. Haacht’s older spelling, Haecht, can still be found on historic advertising and glassware.
