Saint-Hubert

Region: Wallonia

About this Place

Saint-Hubert is a small city and municipality in the province of Luxembourg, in the Belgian Ardennes. It grew around the former Abbey of Saint-Hubert, whose history gave the town both its name and its enduring association with Saint Hubert, patron saint of hunters.

Hunting and the surrounding forest remain central to the town’s identity. Saint-Hubert was designated European Capital of Hunting in 1990 and later European Capital of Nature; since 2016 it has also been recognised as an international centre for the hunting horn. The wider area is particularly well known for its forests, wildlife and walking.
