Manufactured 2013 Curator’s Notes A tall, elegant Palm Hop Select goblet from 2013, combining elements of both a traditional Belgian goblet and a stemmed ale glass. Its elongated bowl, relatively short stem and broad foot give it a graceful but slightly difficult-to-classify form — a characteristically Belgian refusal to fit neatly into a single glass category.
The decoration is restrained but bright: the familiar red PALM wordmark sits above a white HOP SELECT banner, accompanied by a cluster of hop cones. Against the otherwise clear glass, the logo provides the main visual focus.
Hop Select itself was introduced by Palm in 2013 using Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops grown in the brewery’s own hop garden at Steenhuffel. Palm had planted around 800 hop plants there in 2011, with the first harvest gathered in September 2012. The resulting 6% beer was hopped in three stages, including dry hopping, giving it a more pronounced hop character than standard Palm.
This 2013 glass therefore belongs to the beer’s launch period and differs markedly from the more rounded, stubby-stemmed Palm balloon glass already represented by BBG038.
