Curator’s Notes

Duvel has made limited-edition versions of its distinctive tulip glass an established part of the brand, regularly inviting artists and other designers to reinterpret its familiar shape. This 2026 edition is unusual because the designer is Michel Moortgat, CEO and fourth-generation member of the family behind the brewery.

The design wraps a quotation from Rolling Stone magazine around the bowl: “Locals say that this potion is named after the devil, but drink three and you will see God.” Moortgat took inspiration from the work of artist Christopher Wool for the bold, overlapping typography. Individual Ds are picked out in Duvel red, tying the otherwise unconventional design back to one of the brand's most recognisable graphic elements.

Underneath all that decoration remains the classic Duvel glass. The familiar tulip bowl sits on its short stem and broad foot, while the Duvel D etched into the bottom of the bowl provides a nucleation point for the beer's carbonation.

This one came free with a four-pack of Duvel from my local supermarket. I was buying the beer anyway, so for once I can reasonably claim that the glass really was free.
