Curator’s Notes

A colourful Pils glass that takes Peak's familiar house design in a rather different direction. The topographical lines of the High Fens remain, but here they are combined with Peak logos and motifs in red, blue and orange, giving the glass a much livelier appearance than the brewery's more restrained designs.

Most unusually, the interior is covered with small moulded indentations. These appear to act as nucleation points, encouraging bubbles to form across a much larger area than the more familiar etched nucleation mark at the base of a beer glass. It is an unusual treatment, although not unique: another Pils glass in the Museum's collection, from Brasserie des Légendes, uses a similar design.

The glass relates to OktoberPeak, a 5% Pils created by Belgian Peak Beer for its OktoberPeak event at the brewery. Brewed with 100% malt, including Munich malt, the beer was designed to be refreshing, rounded and relatively low in bitterness, with a copper colour. Peak states that it was served only at the brewery and was never bottled.

OktoberPeak does not form part of the brewery's regular packaged range, but it has not simply disappeared. Peak advertised it again for its 2026 OktoberPeak event, while recent Untappd check-ins also record people drinking it at the brewery. The glass therefore belongs to a beer closely tied to the place itself: a draught-only Peak beer whose natural home is the brewery at the Signal de Botrange.
