About this Brewery

Brasserie Lefebvre is an independent family brewery in Quenast, Walloon Brabant, founded in 1876 by Jules Lefebvre. He established a farm, brewery and malt-house to supply the cafés around the local porphyry quarries - where the hard volcanic stone was mined - where thirsty quarry workers were an important market. The brewery moved to higher ground in 1921 to escape the regular flooding of the River Senne, and remains on that site today.

Six generations of the Lefebvre family have shaped the business. Its wide range combines abbey traditions and modern beers: Floreffe has been brewed there under licence since 1983, while other familiar names include the honeyed Barbãr, Hopus, Blanche de Bruxelles, Moeder Overste, Manneken Pils and Dikkenek. It is a fine example of a long-established Belgian family brewery which has continued to innovate.
