Brouwerij De Brabandere is an independent family brewery in Bavikhove, West Flanders. It was founded in 1894 as a small farm brewery by Adolphe De Brabandere and his son Jozef, with little more than copper brewing vessels and a modest store of malt. Despite a forced halt during the First World War, the business expanded steadily under later generations of the family. The brewery now combines a large local pilsner business with a notably varied range of speciality beers. Its principal brands include **Bavik Super Pils**, **Petrus**, **Kwaremont**, **Wittekerke**, **Wieze**, **Ezel** and **La Neuf**. Petrus, particularly its oak-aged sour beers, has become one of its most distinctive international brands.
