About this Brewery
Place: Peizegem
Brouwerij De Block is a family brewery in Peizegem, part of Merchtem, northwest of Brussels. The present brewery dates from 1887, when Louis De Block established the business, although the family traces brewing rights much further back. The brewery has remained in family hands and is now run by Mieke De Block and Paul Saerens.
De Block produces a range of strong, top-fermented Belgian beers, including Satan Gold, Satan Red and Satan Black, alongside Kastaar and Dendermonde Tripel. The Satan range is among the brewery’s most distinctive brands, combining deliberately theatrical devil imagery with traditionally strong Belgian ale styles.
The brewery remains a relatively small, traditional operation, making it a useful contrast with Belgium’s larger industrial producers.
