Vichte is a village in West Flanders, best known as the home of Brouwerij Verhaeghe, an independent family brewery renowned for its traditional Flemish red-brown ales. Its best-known beer, Duchesse de Bourgogne, has helped introduce this distinctive Belgian beer style to drinkers around the world.
Visitor notes
Most visitors come to Vichte because of Brouwerij Verhaeghe. The brewery has remained in family ownership since the late nineteenth century and continues to brew using traditional methods that have made its beers internationally respected.
If you're arriving by train, the brewery is less than 100 metres from the train station.
Vichte itself is a quiet Flemish village rather than a tourist destination. It is best visited as part of a wider exploration of West Flanders, with nearby Kortrijk, Waregem and the surrounding countryside offering additional attractions.
