Brouwerij Verhaeghe Vichte
About this Brewery
Brouwerij Verhaeghe Vichte is a small independent family brewery in Vichte, West Flanders, whose history reaches back to 1885. It is especially known for the traditional Flemish red-brown beers of the region, brewed with mixed fermentation and matured in large oak foeders. Its flagship is Duchesse de Bourgogne, a ruby-red Flemish red ale made with roasted malts and low-bitterness hops, then matured for many months in oak casks. The brewery’s other notable beers include Vichtenaar, Echt Kriekenbier and the Barbe range. Verhaeghe has remained committed to the distinctive sour-sweet, wine-like character of the local red-brown style at a time when many similar breweries have disappeared.
