Tourpes

Region: Wallonia

About this Place

Tourpes is a village in Hainaut, part of the municipality of Leuze-en-Hainaut. Its place in the Museum rests primarily on its association with Brasserie Dupont, one of Belgium's best-known farmhouse breweries.

The brewery was established here in 1844 as a farm brewery and remains closely connected with the agricultural traditions of the region. Today, Brasserie Dupont is particularly associated with Saison Dupont, widely regarded as one of the defining examples of the saison style.

Tourpes represents an important strand of Belgian brewing history: the survival and modern interpretation of farmhouse brewing traditions in Hainaut.

Visitor notes

Tourpes is a small rural village rather than a major tourist destination, but it is an important stop for anyone interested in Belgian brewing heritage. Brasserie Dupont offers brewery visits and tastings, allowing visitors to explore both the historic site and the beers associated with the saison tradition.
