Glasses Saison Dupont
Exhibit information
Capacity 33cl & 25cl
Manufactured 2012 Curator’s Notes This simple Saison Dupont glass is an example of a different approach to Belgian beer glass design. Rather than using elaborate shapes or decoration, it allows the beer itself to remain the focus.
The tall, gently tapering bowl, thick base and minimal branding give it the appearance of a practical everyday serving glass rather than a ceremonial beer vessel. The only decoration is the distinctive Saison Dupont lettering, with no additional imagery or ornamentation.
That restraint feels appropriate for a beer with such a strong connection to tradition. Saison Dupont is one of the best-known examples of the saison style, a farmhouse beer originally associated with Hainaut, where breweries produced refreshing beers for seasonal farm workers.
This is not a glass designed to demand attention. Instead, it quietly performs its role: presenting a classic Belgian beer in a straightforward and functional way.
The glass deliberately avoids the elaborate shapes often associated with Belgian speciality beers. Its tall, restrained profile resembles a pils glass, but its association with Saison Dupont places it firmly within the tradition of farmhouse brewing rather than lager service.
