Oud-Turnhout
About this Place
Oud-Turnhout is a village in the Kempen region of Flanders, best known in the beer world as the home of the former Priory of Corsendonk. Although brewing at the priory ended in the eighteenth century, its name lives on through the internationally recognised Corsendonk abbey beers, preserving a brewing tradition that stretches back more than six centuries.
Visitor notes
The former Priory of Corsendonk is the historic heart of the Corsendonk story, but visitors should not expect to find a working brewery here. Today's Corsendonk beers are brewed under contract at Brasserie du Bocq in Wallonia. Instead, come to appreciate the history of the priory, enjoy the peaceful Kempen countryside and discover the place that inspired one of Belgium's best-known abbey beer names.
Dog-friendly
Dogs are welcome on public paths and walking routes around Oud-Turnhout, making the area a pleasant stop for visitors exploring the Kempen with a four-legged companion. As always, check the individual policies of historic buildings and visitor attractions before entering.
