Libramont-Chevigny
About this Place
Libramont-Chevigny, in Luxembourg province, is a largely rural municipality in the Belgian Ardennes, best known nationally for its agricultural fair. Its beer story is smaller-scale and very local.
In the village of Neuvillers, a group of local beer enthusiasts developed the beer that became La Chatte, drawing on the Walloon nickname les tchèts — “the cats” — traditionally associated with people from the village. Production later moved to Flohimont, also within the municipality, where Brasserie des Tchèts established its brewing base.
For the Museum, Libramont-Chevigny is a neat example of local language and village identity feeding directly into a modern beer brand.
