About this Brewery
Place: Libramont-Chevigny
Brasserie des Tchèts grew out of a group of friends and beer enthusiasts in Neuvillers, near Libramont. The name comes from the Walloon nickname for the people of Neuvillers — les tchèts, “the cats” — which also gave rise to the brewery’s La Chatte branding.
The original La Chatte blond took two years and eighteen trial brews to develop. Before the group had its own suitable equipment, production was carried out at Brasserie De Ranke in Dottignies; the brewery then established its own production site at Flohimont, where it has brewed since 2017.
La Chatte became the brewery’s core range, expanding from the original 6% blond into white, brown, black and tripel versions. The beers are presented very deliberately around that local feline identity, making the brewery a neat example of village folklore becoming a modern brewing brand.
