Genval
About this Place
Genval is a village in Wallonia, best known for the attractive Lac de Genval and its elegant residential setting on the edge of the Sonian Forest. Today it is also home to Brasserie John Martin S.A., the family company behind a number of well-known Belgian beer brands and brewing sites.
Visitor notes
Although Brasserie John Martin S.A. is headquartered in Genval, most of its beers are associated with breweries elsewhere in Belgium. Visitors are more likely to come for a walk around the lake, the cafés and restaurants, or as a convenient stop between Brussels and the Ardennes. Beer enthusiasts may recognise Genval as the administrative home of one of Belgium's most influential family brewing companies.
Dog-friendly
The paths around Lac de Genval are popular with walkers and are well suited to visitors with dogs, provided they are kept under control. Many cafés have outdoor seating, although individual policies for dogs vary.
