Battice
About this Place
Battice is a small town in the Pays de Herve, in the province of Liège, Wallonia. Historically a separate municipality, it became part of the municipality of Herve during Belgium’s municipal reforms in 1977.
The surrounding region is known for its rolling countryside, grassland and agricultural traditions. The Pays de Herve has long been associated with dairy production, particularly Herve cheese, as well as other regional products linked to its rural landscape.
Today, Battice also appears in the story of Belgian beer through Bière des Amis, a brand created around the idea of sharing and conviviality. Although the beer is brewed elsewhere in Belgium, the brand is based in Battice, providing another example of how Belgian beer culture connects places, brands and brewing partners in unexpected ways.
Visitor notes
Battice lies in eastern Belgium between Liège and the German-speaking border region. The town is surrounded by the countryside of the Pays de Herve, making it a useful base for exploring the wider region rather than a major urban destination in its own right.
