Manufactured 2023 Curator’s Notes This Broeder Jacob glass was supplied as a tasting glass with a mixed gift pack of eight beers, rather than being designed for one particular beer in the range.
Its shape is more substantial than many tasting glasses, with a rounded goblet-like bowl, tall stem and broad foot. The front carries the brewery’s distinctive Broeder Jacob logo, while musical notation wraps around the bowl.
That decoration is part of the brewery’s wider identity. The name Broeder Jacob refers to the familiar song also known as “Frère Jacques”, and the musical theme is carried through the brewery’s packaging and glassware.
The most distinctive detail is in the bottom of the bowl, where a treble clef forms the nucleation mark. It is a small but thoughtful piece of design, combining branding with function and turning an otherwise practical tasting glass into something much more specific to the brewery.
