Manufactured 2022 Curator’s Notes This slightly unusually shaped glass was produced for two of Brasserie Dubuisson’s strong fruit beers: "Fram’ Bush", flavoured with strawberry, and "Pêche Mel’ Bush", flavoured with peach. Rather than creating separate glasses, the brewery used each side for a different beer.
The decoration makes the distinction immediately visible. One face carries the Fram’ Bush name with red and pink bands suggesting strawberry, while the reverse uses warmer orange and yellow tones for Pêche Mel’ Bush and peach. It is an economical piece of branding, but also gives the glass an unusual dual identity: both sides are important to understanding what it was designed to do.
The form is equally distinctive. Its tall bowl flares sharply towards the rim, while the short stem and broad foot give it some of the solidity of a goblet. The result sits somewhere between a tulip, an ale glass and a goblet without fitting neatly into any of them. That slightly awkward hybrid shape seems appropriate for beers that are themselves unusual combinations: strongly alcoholic Belgian ales given an overt fruit character.
It is a good example of how Belgian brewery glassware can be designed not simply around a traditional beer style, but around the practical and visual demands of a particular range of beers.
