About this Brewery

Brasserie Dubuisson Frères SPRL is a fiercely independent family brewery in Pipaix, Hainaut. Founded in 1769 by Joseph Leroy, an ancestor of the present Dubuisson family, it claims to be Belgium’s oldest family brewery and has brewed continuously on the same farm-brewery site for more than 250 years. Nine generations of the same family have maintained the business through revolutions and two world wars. Its historic flagship is Bush Caractère, created in 1933 as an exceptionally strong Belgian ale; the name “Bush” is the English translation of Dubuisson. The more recent Cuvée des Trolls, launched in 2000, has become another hugely recognisable brand. The brewery also produces Surfine and several Bush variations.
