Curator’s Notes

Paix Dieu's elegant ‘Petite Lune’ — or ‘Little Moon’ — glass is immediately distinctive. Its rounded bowl evokes the moon, while the unusually angled rim gives the glass its wonderfully asymmetric silhouette. The brewery says the design is intended to help capture the beer's aromas.

The lunar connection runs through Paix Dieu itself. Its story draws on the brewing traditions of the former Cistercian abbey, and the modern beer continues to make playful use of the full moon in its identity and presentation.

Decoration on the glass is restrained, allowing its unusual form to do most of the work. It is an elegant and genuinely distinctive piece of Belgian glassware: a glass whose shape is not simply decorative, but forms part of the story of the beer it was created to hold.
