Manufactured 2025 Curator’s Notes This is another exuberant piece of glassware from Brouwerij Wilderen. A tall goblet with a generous bowl and substantial stem, it carries the Tripel Kanunnik name beneath a spray of hop foliage. White vines curl around the bowl, incorporating Wilderen's W motif on the front, rear and both sides.
Kanunnik means “canon”, a member of the clergy attached to a cathedral or collegiate church, giving the beer an ecclesiastical nod appropriate to the historic abbey town of Sint-Truiden. The beer itself is a strong four-grain tripel, brewed with barley, wheat, oats and rye.
The small “Anno 1743” inscription is another piece of Wilderen storytelling. The farm at Wilderen has a longer history, but 1743 marks the historic brewery on the site and appears repeatedly in the modern brewery's branding. Manufactured in 2025 and marked at 33cl, the glass combines that heritage with a decidedly modern willingness to decorate almost every available surface.
