Curator’s Notes

This special-edition Maredsous goblet was created in support of the Basilique Rénovation 2030 project, raising funds for the restoration of the basilica at Maredsous Abbey. The broad bowl carries an intricate wraparound design incorporating imagery drawn from brewing, alongside the Maredsous name and the Basilique Renovation 2030 identity.

The decoration continues into the substantial stem, where “Benedictine” and “Tradition” are embossed on opposing sides. Together, these details connect the glass not simply with Maredsous beer, but with the Benedictine heritage and physical home from which the brand takes its identity. This 33cl example was manufactured in 2025.

I bought this boxed special edition from the Abbey shop during a visit to Maredsous in spring 2026, alongside a selection of the Abbey’s beers and a smaller tasting glass.
