About this Brewery

Place: Wakken

Brouwerij De Bie was founded in 1992 in Watou, near Poperinge. After being acquired by Jos Tjoen in 1998, it moved first to Loker in 2001 and then, as the business expanded, to a larger farmstead in Wakken in 2011.

The brewery produces a wide range of beers including Blonde Bie, Zatte Bie, Riebedebie, Hellekapelle, Stoute Bie and several fruit beers. Its bee-themed identity runs through many of the names and labels. De Bie describes its approach as artisanal and emphasises the use of natural ingredients, including crops grown around the farm.

Its online presence feels rather old-fashioned, but the brewery is still active. Its own website currently says visitors can tour the brewery or reserve the tasting room by contacting them directly, rather than through an online booking system.
