About this Brewery
Place: Brussels
Brasserie Surréaliste was founded in Brussels in 2019 by brothers Édouard and Charles Grison, although its origins go back to 2015, when Édouard began experimenting with homebrewing in the family garage.
The brothers developed the idea of creating a brewery that combined craft beer with art, music and hospitality. Their flagship Surréaliste Pale Ale appeared in 2019, helping establish a reputation for modern, hop-forward beers.
The brewery found a permanent home in a striking 1932 Art Deco former banana warehouse in Brussels’ Dansaert district. Brewing began there in 2021, using a ten-hectolitre brewhouse, while the wider site was developed into a brewery, bar, restaurant, beer shop and cultural space.
Brasserie Surréaliste forms part of the newer generation of Brussels craft breweries, combining Belgian brewing know-how with contemporary beer styles, strong visual identity and a deliberately unconventional approach to the brewery experience.
