About this Brewery

Place: Mariembourg

Brasserie des Fagnes is a brewery and visitor brewery in Mariembourg, near Couvin in the province of Namur. Its modern story begins in the 1990s, when Frédéric Adant revived the Super des Fagnes name and began rebuilding a local brewing tradition around it. The brewery presents that revival as part of a much longer family and regional brewing story.

The Super des Fagnes range was relaunched in 1994, and the purpose-built Brasserie des Fagnes followed later in the decade. From the start, the site was conceived not only as a production brewery but as a place where visitors could see brewing taking place and drink the beers on site. The brewery still describes itself as having been designed specifically to allow visitors to discover the production process freely.

That visitor experience remains central to the operation. Beer can be served directly from the brewery’s 1,000-litre tanks, and the site combines brewing, tasting, food and informal visits rather than separating production from hospitality.

The range has also evolved. The historic Super des Fagnes branding has gradually given way to the shorter Fagnes name, while the current line-up includes Blonde, Brune, Triple, Christmas, Griottes, Cuvée Constant and a number of newer or seasonal beers.

For the Museum, the brewery is especially interesting because its glassware reflects that evolution in branding. Older glasses carrying the Super des Fagnes name, such as BBG197, sit alongside a much more modern visual identity used by the brewery today.
