Malonne
About this Place
Malonne is a village on the outskirts of Namur, surrounded by wooded hills and quiet country lanes. Its former abbey, chapels and religious heritage give the village a character quite distinct from nearby Namur, while a signposted 7km circular walk takes visitors through some of the surrounding countryside and past viewpoints over the valley.
For the Museum, however, there is one particularly good reason to visit: Brasserie du Clocher. The brewery occupies the former Chapelle du Piroy, where stainless-steel brewing vessels now sit beneath the vaulted church interior and the Philomène beers are produced. It is an unexpectedly beautiful setting for a small brewery and makes Malonne a worthwhile detour for anyone exploring the beer culture around Namur.
