About this Brewery

Place: Brugge (Bruges)

Staminee De Garre is a specialist beer café hidden down a narrow passage in the historic centre of Brugge. Open since 1984, it is known for its extensive Belgian beer selection and, above all, for Tripel van De Garre, its 11% house beer.

The Tripel was created for the café in 1986 and is brewed for De Garre by Brouwerij Van Steenberge in Ertvelde. It is available at the café as its signature beer, making De Garre an unusual example in the Museum: not a brewery, but a drinking venue whose own beer and distinctive glass have become part of its identity.

Curator's Note

The café itself is easy to miss, tucked into one of Brugge’s narrowest passages close to the city centre. For beer enthusiasts, that obscurity is part of the charm. Look closely to spot the entrance down the narrow passage. Head upstairs for the best seating. Try their house tripel and browse the extensive menu for lots of other beer choices. They also serve food.

You are able to buy bottles of their house tripel at the bar (they come in 6 packs), to take home. Ask nicely and they'll sell you one of their house glasses!
