Brouwerij De Koninck
About this Brewery
Brouwerij De Koninck is Antwerp’s best-known city brewery. It was founded in 1833 by Johannes Vervliet as Brouwerij De Hand, named after a hand carved on a nearby boundary marker; the hand remains part of the brewery’s emblem and is closely associated with Antwerp itself. Its classic amber ale, De Koninck, became known locally as a “Bolleke”, after the rounded bowl-shaped glass in which it is traditionally served. De Koninck was acquired by Duvel Moortgat in 2010, but brewing continues at its long-established Antwerp site. Now known as Stadsbrouwerij De Koninck, it combines production with a substantial visitor experience, bars and food businesses. The range includes Bolleke, Tripel d’Anvers and seasonal special beers.
