Brouwerij Crombé
Brewery
About this Brewery
Place: Zottegem
Brouwerij Crombé is a historic family brewing business in Zottegem, East Flanders, with origins around 1800. Successive generations brewed at the Hospitaalstraat site, producing beers including Oud Zottegems Bier, Oude Kriekenbier and Egmont Zottegemse Tripel.
The old brewery installation eventually became too expensive to operate and brewing ceased on the historic Zottegem equipment. Rather than allowing the beers to disappear, the Crombé family arranged for Brouwerij Strubbe in Ichtegem to produce them using Crombé recipes and traditions.
Crombé therefore survives today as a beer firm rather than an operating production brewery in Zottegem. Its beers, including Oud Zottegems Bier, continue to be produced under the Crombé name.
