Brouwerij Bosteels

About this Brewery

Brouwerij Bosteels is a historic brewery in Buggenhout, East Flanders, founded in 1791 by Jean-Baptiste Bosteels. The Bosteels family brewed there for seven generations and maintained production even through both world wars; three members of the family also served as mayor of Buggenhout.

The brewery became nationally known in the 1930s for its Bolleke pils, but its modern reputation rests on strong speciality beers: Pauwel Kwak was revived in the 1980s and is famous for its distinctive coachman’s glass and wooden stand.; Tripel Karmeliet, inspired by a Carmelite recipe using three grains, followed in the 1990s; alongside Deus Brut des Flandres.

Bosteels is now part of AB InBev, but brewing continues at the original Buggenhout site.
