About this Brewery
Brasserie de Silenrieux is a small independent Walloon brewery, founded in 1991 in the countryside near the Lacs de l’Eau d’Heure. Its original beers, developed with the brewing laboratory at Louvain-la-Neuve, were deliberately unusual: La Joseph, a white beer brewed chiefly with spelt, and La Sara, a dark beer made with buckwheat. Both remain the brewery’s best-known beers and are also made in certified organic versions. The brewery produces traditional and organic high-fermentation beers, as well as contract brews, from a converted former railway building. Its location and distinctive use of grains give it a character quite separate from the larger Belgian brewing groups.
