About this Brewery

Brasserie de Brunehaut is an independent brewery in Rongy, in the municipality of Brunehaut near Tournai. Its modern history begins in 1890, when the Allard family founded Brasserie St Joseph at nearby Guignies. The brewery moved to its present site in 1991 while retaining its emphasis on traditional high-fermentation beers and refermentation in bottle and keg.

Today Brunehaut has developed a distinctive identity around organic brewing, local sourcing and gluten-free beer. Its ranges include Brunehaut beers and the Abbaye de Saint-Martin abbey beers, alongside beers produced for other brands. The brewery traces the heritage of its Saint-Martin range to the brewing traditions of Tournai's former Abbaye de Saint-Martin, where brewing is recorded from the medieval period.

Brunehaut combines that historical positioning with an unusually modern emphasis on sustainability. Its beers use organic ingredients, with the brewery promoting locally grown barley and environmentally responsible production. It has also become particularly associated with organic and gluten-free Belgian beer.
